The congress of the German Society for Hand Surgery together with the DAHTH Annual Meeting from October 6 to 8, 2011 in Bonn was a true success: a sophisticated scientific programme, beautifully arranged exhibitor stands, record attendance numbers and the former Bundeshaus of the German Parliament as a spectacular location! The speakers were seated in front of the Federal Eagle, the chairmen and moderators on the former government bench and the participants on what used to be the seats of the members of parliament, which altogether created an atmosphere that inspired everyone. During the official opening ceremony the history and all the little tales around the World Conference Center Bonn were presented in both an impressive and humorous way by the historian Regina Sellmer.
